Why did you file this against xorg instead of java?

I'm developping on an older version of Linux (ubuntu current stable) where this bug does not happen

the java version is the same (current oracle 7u45)

the only change is (intel grafik driver, xorg or gtk) couse with java 7u40 there was an other bug (xorg crashes) but this bug is not reproduceable any longer

i don't know the interna so i can't tell you if it is X or the driver or gtk the real problem is the overlay at applicationlevel.
but if i disable this i can't use my app (funny look - not usable any longer) so i think it is the driver or more the x implementation which seams had changed (compositing and overlay?)

i would do more debuging but i don't know where to start.

Xorg-server has not been touched since saucy, so it's not a bug there. Unless there's proof I do not think this bug is in xorg, can you try downgrading libgtk to the saucy version?

The bug is also in 13.10 (the only working version is curr. LTS (12.04)

so i don't know if it is easy to do downgread libgtk to 12.04 ?

but i can give it a test

you can see the bug in action! (the blue line) disapear and you can not click the item.

the normal case should not produce this problem.

testet on Debian (7.3) and Ubuntu lts 12.04 both are OK

both of my pcs are with intel chip / and intel grapfik so i can not say something about ati or nvidia
