Bug Description

This morning I installed an update for Ubuntu 13.10. The update log yields:

Start-Date: 2014-01-04 11:43:41
Commandline: aptdaemon role='role-commit-packages' sender=':1.71'
Install: linux-headers-3.11.0-15-generic:i386 (3.11.0-15.23), linux-image-3.11.0-15-generic:i386 (3.11.0-15.23), linux-headers-3.11.0-15:i386 (3.11.0-15.23), linux-image-extra-3.11.0-15-generic:i386 (3.11.0-15.23)

End-Date: 2014-01-04 11:45:17

After the update, my trackpad is no longer detected during startup. I have checked the kernel log, before the update, I see

Dec 30 20:23:04 chrubuntu kernel: [ 4.217061] input: Cypress APA Trackpad (cyapa) as /devices/pci0000:00/0000:00:15.1/i2c-8/8-0067/input/input13

After the update, this line no longer appears and my trackpad does not function.

Arthur Goldman, thank you for reporting this and helping make Ubuntu better. If you boot into a kernel prior to the proposed repository kernel 3.11.0-15.23 does the trackpad begin to work again?

My system is small enough that I don't keep old kernels and I was unable
to convince Synaptic to force an old version, so I don't know. I ended
up reinstalling Ubuntu using the Haswell Chromebook script
http://chromeos-cr48.blogspot.com/2013/10/chrubuntu-for-new-chromebooks-now-with.html
which gave 3.11.0.15.16 according to Synaptic and the Software Center,
and the touchpad worked fine after that, but I don't know if that's the
older kernel, and Synaptic and the Software Center list that as the
latest, or if it's the special install.

Really sorry I couldn't be of more help.
