The resume buttons do not work after you place the machine in suspend. You can tell the machine is on as if you place a bright light on the screen you can see the desktop.

lohapuk, thank you for reporting this and helping make Ubuntu better. In order to clarify your Bug Description:

So, you click which button(s) specifically? When the laptop is suspended, and you are expecting it to resume, correct?

The laptop resumes, you can ssh into the machine and even use an external monitor. The brightness control buttons do not work at all, under a brigh tlight you can see that the internal lcd is being updated but the backlight is completely off.

lohapuk, thank you for your comment. Could you please provide the information following https://wiki.ubuntu.com/DebuggingKernelSuspend ?

If reproducible, could you also please test the latest upstream kernel available (not the daily folder) following https://wiki.ubuntu.com/KernelMainlineBuilds ? It will allow additional upstream developers to examine the issue. Once you've tested the upstream kernel, please comment on which kernel version specifically you tested. If this bug is fixed in the mainline kernel, please add the following tags:
kernel-fixed-upstream
kernel-fixed-upstream-VERSION-NUMBER

where VERSION-NUMBER is the version number of the kernel you tested. For example:
kernel-fixed-upstream-v3.3.13-rc6

This can be done by clicking on the yellow circle with a black pencil icon next to the word Tags located at the bottom of the bug description. As well, please remove the tag:
needs-upstream-testing

If the mainline kernel does not fix this bug, please add the following tags:
kernel-bug-exists-upstream
kernel-bug-exists-upstream-VERSION-NUMBER

As well, please remove the tag:
needs-upstream-testing

Once testing of the upstream kernel is complete, please mark this bug's Status as Confirmed. Please let us know your results. Thank you for your understanding.

Ok I have just installed 3.13.0-031300rc7-generic and now on resume the brightness is set to full but the keyboard buttons to control brightness turn the backlight on or off. They do not change the birghtness in increments like before resuming the machine.

If someone needs ssh access to the machine to speed up fault finding that can be arranged.
