Gdm crashes with new kdm's

Binary package hint: gdm

whenever i install some new themes for gdm in dapper and fawn it crashes,there is no specific method so that i
can reinstall this gdm or login back into desktop.there should be an alternative to gdm whenever it crashes ITS
NOT AN IDEA its MANDATORY.i feel terribly upset with gdm.
