Bug Description

Binary package hint: kphotoalbum

i started KPA from the command-line to use an collection of photos on an usb connected external disk (with an index page there).
the collection contains some 20'000 photos.
it was indexed before, but reopening the index takes again over an hour.
i assume i have some preferences, disk mount parameter or similar wrong?
i am new to KPA. any help?

i installed KPA from ubuntu 7.04 (updated), using gnome as my desktop (any problem here?); i have 3.0.2-1build1 (probably; KPA says only 3.0)

Are you sure you saved before closing Kphotoalbum?

If you don't do this all of the indexing is lost.
The result is - Kp has to rescan your photos again.

The index is not stored automatically.
You have to manually save it.

Greetings

Andy

Have you tried what einfach suggested? I just indexed my portable 500GB drive which has way to many pictures, and the first time through did take a bit of time, maybe less than an hour, but after saving when exiting, the next time I went in, it started up normally and didn't go through the indexing process again. For the time being I am going to close this report as I believe this is the issue you are seeing. If it is not, then I urge you to reopen this report with any further information that you think will help us fix any problems. Thank you!
