Bug Description

Binary package hint: nvidia-glx

This also affects nvidia-glx-new

nvidia-glx installs with the nvidia-settings program, however, there is no menu item for it.

It normally goes under Applications > System Tools > NVIDIA X Server Settings. I'm pretty sure that the installer from Nvidia creates a menu item with its own icon: maybe those could be used in Ubuntu's package.

This isn't a direct duplicate: the problem I'm having as current and deals with a missing menu-item altogether.

Interesting. I've removed the duplication. For some reason, I still have /usr/share/applications/NVIDIA-Settings.desktop installed locally, although I can confirm it is no longer supplied by nvidia-glx-new.

Separately, regarding the icon, my understanding is that Ubuntu has not been granted a license to redistribute the nVidia icon for the .desktop file. If this is not the case, it should indeed be used.
