Switching displays with hotkeys kills wireless interface

Bug Description
On my Acer Aspire One D150, when I switch to external display using hotkeys (Fn F5), the displays switch OK, but the wireless interface is gone to the effect that the wlan0 interface is not shown in lshw output.

The keymap for acer seems to be correct (mapped to switchvideomode).

Update: this happens also when acpid is stopped, so i guess it really is gnome-settings- daemon' s fault.
