Bug Description

When I boot my machine with the 3.11.0-14 kernel configuration my Atheros ethernet card (AR8161) is very slow. I talk about less than 1/3 of the speed when I boot de machine with the 3.11.0-13 kernel configuration.

Both are the default kernels form kubuntu.

The 3.11.0-15 kernel is now available in the -proposed repository. Would it be possible for you to test this latest kernel and post back if it resolves this bug?

See https://wiki.ubuntu.com/Testing/EnableProposed for documentation how to enable and use -proposed.

Thank you in advance!

Andy Esten, could you please test the latest upstream kernel available (not the daily folder, but the one at the top) following https://wiki.ubuntu.com/KernelMainlineBuilds ? It will allow additional upstream developers to examine the issue. Once you've tested the upstream kernel, please comment on which kernel version specifically you tested. If this bug is fixed in the mainline kernel, please add the following tags:
kernel-fixed-upstream
kernel-fixed-upstream-VERSION-NUMBER

where VERSION-NUMBER is the version number of the kernel you tested. For example:
kernel-fixed-upstream-v3.13-rc4

This can be done by clicking on the yellow circle with a black pencil icon next to the word Tags located at the bottom of the bug description. As well, please remove the tag:
needs-upstream-testing

If the mainline kernel does not fix this bug, please add the following tags:
kernel-bug-exists-upstream
kernel-bug-exists-upstream-VERSION-NUMBER

As well, please remove the tag:
needs-upstream-testing

Once testing of the upstream kernel is complete, please mark this bug's Status as Confirmed. Please let us know your results. Thank you for your understanding.

Hi Christopher,

I have tested two upstream kernels. Version 3.12.0-031200 is still not correct. Kernel version 3.13.0-031300rc3 is fine! Updated the bug with this information and marked it Confirmed.

Andy Esten, thank you for performing the requested test. Would you need a backport to a release prior to Trusty, or may this be closed as Status Invalid?
