Prey does not run after install

Bug Description

1) The release of Ubuntu you are using, via 'lsb_release -rd' or System -> About Ubuntu

2) The version of the package you are using, via 'apt-cache policy pkgname' or by checking in Software Center

Prey to run

4) What happened instead
I get this error:

Confirming but Prey seems to work correctly, as the website states that my device was last seen 2 minutes ago.

Prey control panel does report the system having checked in. According to prey website v0.5.3 is very old.

The error from line 40 is gone in Trusty, but running Prey still gives some errors:

/usr/lib/prey/prey.sh: 75: [: linux: unexpected operator
/usr/lib/prey/prey.sh: 78: [: linux: unexpected operator
/usr/lib/prey/prey.sh: 100: /usr/lib/prey/core/setup: shopt: not found
/usr/lib/prey/prey.sh: 107: readonly: 19:45:29: bad variable name
