Bug Description

Binary package hint: nspluginwrapper

Steps to reproduce are quite simple. Go to synaptic package manager, select nspluginwrapper (which in Gutsy there is a package for) for installation. It'll install, but not work.

nspluginwrapper version 0.9.91.4-3ubuntu1 is the version in question. I've reinstalled the package (making sure Firefox was closed at the time) to no avail. Does it no longer automatically include the Flash plugin?

I'll give a few different possible solutions a try and report back.

Thank you for your bug report, I have a feeling this is due to flashplugin-nonfree not being able to be installed in gutsy. Can you please see if /usr/lib/firefox/plugins has libflashplayer.so in it (im fairly sure thats what it should be, But as of the past few days flash can not be installed.

flashplugin-nonfree was definitely showing up in synaptic as of last night. Yup, it's there. I actually manually marked it for installation after installing nspluginwrapper and seeing that it still didn't work right.

uhoh.. I just had to force quit terminal and now it won't really re-load.. time to search for another bug report, why do I have a feeling that one might be a driver issue.

/usr/lib/firefox/plugins has npwrapper.libflashplayer.so, a symlink that points to /usr/lib/mozilla/plugiins/npwrapper.libflashplayer.so

wait, aha! that symlink is broken! the only libflashplayer.so on my system is the symlink itself.

Flash has been uploaded to feisty and gutsy to fix this issue, closing bug please see bug #125131
If not in feisty yet it will be shortly. it takes a bit longer because it needs alot more testing. but should be in shortly if not already.

Robert, I'm having the same trouble. After updates, nspluginwrapper is broken.

synaptic reported exit status 1 when attempting to install flashplugin-nonfree (it was updated since the last time I updated (less than 24 hours ago).
