Bug Description

I was typing a phone number pretty quickly into the messaging app.
Part way through one of the numbers (7) stuck down, it didn't repeat, but the pop up which shows the key you pressed stuck up. See screenshot.
I carried on typing and other keys didn't stick, and that key didn't come down.

It only went away when the keyboard was re-opened after the screen locked and was unlocked and I tapped another field.

I see this from time to time still, where keys get stuck in pressed state.

This seems to be reproducible by pressing three keys simultaneously, although the keys no longer get permanently locked (tapping on the locked key a second time causes to go down).

When you get a key with extra characters stuck all that happens is that the little pop-up with extra characters shows up and doesn't go away. If a key that doesn't have extra characters on it gets stuck it repeats the key-press. One of the keys without extra characters is backspace and I lost a couple of long text messages due to this bug this week. I suggest elevating the importance of this bug.

It looks like there's multiple causes of these symptoms, the easiest way to trigger the backspace issue is in bug: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu-keyboard/+bug/1385518 I haven't marked it as a duplicate though, as it doesn't relate to other stuck keys, which look to be a problem with touch detection lower down in the stack.
