Bug Description

Hi,

I am currently using unity-system-compositor in Ubuntu 13.10 32bits with open-source graphics. It works mostly fine, but I have a strange issue with my cursor in some situations. For example, if I want to drag and drop some text in LibreOffice Writer, I get a weird square around my cursor, as if it struggled to produce a transparency effect. It also happened on some other occasions, sometimes with the "loading" spinning circle. However, drag and drop in Firefox works normally.

Thanks for your time.

It's actually a bug in the software cursor provided by the radeon driver.

Although I'm linking the XMir project too, because ideally XMir should not be asking for the software cursor in future. See also bug 1216468 and bug 1211060 which are caused by the X software cursor.

I did not realise it was the same issue. Should I mark it as a duplicate ?

No, this is different enough to be a separate bug. Even if we expect multiple bugs to have a single solution in future...

XMir 1.0 (the old Xorg extension) is now deprecated and is not being maintained or fixed. It is replaced by the new 'Xmir' binary (package 'xmir') introduced in Ubuntu 15.10 wily.
