Different kernel - similar problem. According to my knowledge - enough free space.
Happens since a few days. Tried all command-line-fixes I could muster in the net.

Downloaded the older version of initramfs-tools.
Did (of course as sudo)
- dpkg -i initramfs-tools-bin_0.103ubuntu1_i386.deb
- apt-get upgrade
- apt-get -f install
- apt-get purge initramfs-tools-ubuntu-touch and finally an
- apt-get -f install
After that, kernel installation worked without error.
Re-installation of initramfs-tools-ubuntu-touch worked as well.
