Bug Description

Binary package hint: gdm

the session selector in gdm in feisty and gutsy shows an entry for "XClient script". neither the tooltip nor the entry itself are intuitive enough to even remotely understand what that would start

After searching the net, I've decided to look at scripts (mainly /etc/X11/Xsession) and:
If you select "Xclient", $HOME/.xsession gets executed (if exists).
Created one that says "jwm", works like a charm.
If there's a problem changing the text or the tooltip because of some inter-distro evil pact, at least add a word about this to yelp

well, this bug is merely about finding a proper wording your mother would understand if looking at the session selection list in gdm

Xclient script runs Xfce in Xubuntu, but it does not run Xfce properly i.e. it does not run /etc/xdg/xfce4/xinitrc whereas Xfce 4 session selection runs Xfce session more completely in my experience.

MIT just got bit by this bug.
We're getting ready to roll out a big deployment of Ubuntu, and discovered the
default session that users should use isn't called Default Session Script, it's
called "Run Xclient script". We've done a diversion to rename the script.

I've looked at the upstream bug. Where they ended up a year ago was, "Let distros define their own default script from an example.

QUESTION: What is Ubuntu going to do for a default X session script going forward?

Upstream agrees that naming the default as "Run Xclient script" is poor, but they're now
delegating the work of crafting the default script to the distributions.

If Ubuntu is going to stay with this script, could it PLEASE be renamed to, "System Default Session"?
