solved:

1. update-manager -d
2. after the crash, you have the actual /etc/apt/source.list (the new one)
3. sudo apt-get update, apt-get upgrade, apt-get dist-upgrade
4. after this and restart
 cat /etc/lsb-release :

DISTRIB_RELEASE=14.04
DISTRIB_CODENAME=trusty

5.
update-manager -> works
update-manger -d -> workd

The same issue affects when i tried to upgrade to 16.04 from 15.10 UbuntuGnome
