Unable to save png or pdf file

Hello

I have been using your fab inkscape, I've tried to save some work I've done this morning on to my computer as a png file after no luck with this I tried saving as a pdf file.

What happens is - it does save to my computer but then when you click to view it on my desktop - All I can see is a blank page……

Can you please let me know what I need to do to rectify this without loosing everything I've worked on this morning :)

Are you trying to save a copy as 'Cairo PNG' or using the (regular) export via 'File > Export Bitmap'?

Tried to save as Cairo PNG and the one for pdf - neither are working for me…..I've never had any issues in the past only today

Note that the recommend way to export to PNG is via 'File > Export Bitmap', not via 'File > Save … > 'Cairo PNG'.

Saving as PDF and Cairo PNG does not take the custom background color into account: white text on a default white background is not rendered visible…

Inkscape 0.48.2 for Mac OS X saves the drawing as expected to PDF (and Cairo PNG) if a rectangle of the size of the page (or larger) is stacked at the bottom of all objects (try yourself with attached modified file).

Attached PNG was saved as copy of the modified file using the file format 'Cairo PNG'.

Note that exporting via 'File > Export Bitmap' does respect custom document background colors (it uses the same renderer as on-canvas for export).
