Bug Description

LMDE Cinnamon Update 7, 32 bit

I chose the Python app from the Programming section of the Software Manager and installed the "Python" programming app. Later, I could not locate either a shortcut nor a listing of the app anywhere in my system. After some LMDE community research for the use of the S/W Mgr and similar "absent apps" problems post installation via the Software Manager, I found a suggestion to instead use the Synaptic pkg feature to install an app. In order to work with a "clean slate", I decided to first uninstall the Python app via the Software Manager feature. The uninstall process stalled at the 96% mark of the horizontal progress indicator and got no further. After waiting about two minutes, I decided that the system had become frozen. I exited from the Software Manager via the "x" at the upper right corner of its mini-window. I checked the Administrative app list and discovered that it had somehow been shortened, containing only a couple of app sub-divisions! There was no listing of the Software Manager nor Synaptic! I conducted a soft-reboot via the "Restart" choice. The system rebooted and became stuck on the LMDE "from freedom came elegance" black screen with the five white circles that become green 1 by 1, from left to right. Two white-to-green "lighting" sequences ended and on the start of the 3rd "lighting" sequence, the screen advanced no further then the 1st circle! This screen is immediately before the system user-pw login screen of LMDE. I alternately rebooted the system about 4 to 5 times using hard-reboot or Control-Alternate-Delete. The system would always get as far as the 1st circle in the 3rd "lighting" sequence and go no further. I eventually re-installed LMDE 32bit with the use of my DVD disk, updating to Update 7 at the end of the installation process.
