It happens everytime I start Thunderbird on a recently installed Ubuntu 7.10 tribe 2
I've just updated Ubuntu, set up Beryl, and Compiz (I have no idea if they'd be related)

Installed Thunderbird through Add/Remove.

and the crash happens everytime I try to start Thunderbird.

I'm seeing this issue on an amd64 boxen
only problem is its with galeon, liferea, firefox and konsole (and kcontrol)
turning off or on desktop effects made no difference
was seeing this under fluxbox same under gnome

firefox-granparadiso luckly works without issues

I can attach traces if wanted
