Calendar control shakes when leaving newly-selected date

Issue:
If you select a date in the indicator calendar and then hovering out of the "date field" it has a UI bug. I can not describe it good enough so I made a short video sequence: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Kh4z5H9-4y0&feature=youtu.be

What to expect:
No display issue but just a hover effect on the focused date (this does not happen).

On closer inspection, the flickering happens a fraction of a second after you choose a date, regardless of whether you leave the date area or not. So this is a duplicate of bug 1238626.
