Guarddog blocks IRC connection via port 8001

I am unable to connect to irc.freenode.com using port 8001.

Using Konversation, I select connect from the server list and the following messages are displayed:

[Info] Looking for server irc.freenode.com:8001...
[Info] Server found, connecting...

No further messages are shown.
I can connect to Freenode correctly using port 6667.

I am using Guarddog firewall and have allowed (enabled) the IRC protocol.
If I disable Guarddog firewall then I can connect to Freenode using port 8001.

The Guarddog website says IRC server ports 6660-6669 have been defined.

I am running an up to date Kubuntu 7.04.

Just to add, this is not something that has stopped working. I have never been able to connect via port 8001.

I have KDE 3.5.7 installed.

Thanks for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make Ubuntu better. I have unmarked it as a security issue since this bug does not show evidence of allowing attackers to cross privilege boundaries nor directly cause loss of data/privacy.
