Bug Description

The above linked patch is a libata update, scheduled to go into 2.6.11....
Hopefully, by the time Hoary is finalized, this new kernel will be out.

If not, can you guys please backport this patch to 2.6.10? (Gentoo has already
done so)

One MAJOR improvement is the support of IDE devices on the Promise PDC20376
controller (An extremely common onboard SATA device)

I'd like to correct a typo I made. It's the promise pdc20378 controller, also
known as FastTrak 378, TX2+/TX4+.

Patch for PATA support on FastTrak 378

Here's the patch that Gentoo's pulled from upstream.

It's quite small, actually -- extremely unlikely to cause any breakages. It's
been in gentoo's kernel since the beginning of the year, no trouble reported.

This is a patch also from Gentoo and the same upstream commit, for a similar
chipset.

The first patch doesn't add any support and it conflicts with second one (that
looks ok).

Also, are these patches generated on top of our tree? I already pulled a bunches
of libata
update in the past.

Fixed in 2.6.10-15 upload that will be available on the mirrors in a few hours.
Note: the kernel includes an ABI change that will temporary break binary drivers
like NVIDIA and ati.

So will this show up in the Daily Hoary setup images?
