Not so much a gnucash problem as a gtk+2 grid problem

When running gnucash in xmonad on Lubuntu 13.10, edits on the grid are not reflected and updated on screen. This behaviour can be reproduced on gnumeric when trying to edit data on the grid widget. In gnumeric, if once a cell is edited on the edit line at the top, it then becomes possible to edit in-cell. No such opportunity exists in gnucash.

This is not an xmonad problem. I installed gnome and it didn't work there. I tried it in a lubuntu session and the problem remained. It would appear, at first blush, to be a problem perhaps around

these libraries. gnucash was working fine in xmonad under ubuntu 13.10 before I clean installed lubuntu 13.10.

I expected edits and arrow key movements left and right to be reflected on screen in-cell.

No update was seen. Switching away from the workspace and back caused the update to happen.
