Opening a dialog from the menu bar freezes Polly

3. Click OK or (!) Cancel, or even clik on the red "x" at the top of the dialog,
4. The action above makes no difference, Polly freezes.

Sorry for the excessively short response.

Since I couldn't reproduce, nobody else reported anything similar, and you mentioned no useful error messages or terminal output, a harsh issue like freezing is likely to be on one of your underlying libraries or a corrupt installation, not Polly itself.

Here's a data point: the search dialog only freezes when it was opened using the mouse, from the File menu.

If I open it with Ctrl+F, it behaves as expected.

If I press Alt+F, then navigate to the "Search..." item with arrow keys and press Enter, it still works fine.

Marking as incomplete, since I cannot reproduce but cannot be 100% sure the issue is not on Polly either.

The good news is that I was able to reproduce this.

The bad news is that it seems to happen on ALL dialogs that can be opened from the menubar, not just search. Happens with Create List, for example.

It seems to be exclusive to the Unity window manager and I couldn't find a workaround yet.

Doesn't happen with "proper" windows opened this way, though. For instance, Help -> About, Edit -> Add new account and Edit -> Preferences. IOW, only modal dialogs are affected.

I tried with Unity ever since my first reply, but the issue only appeared after the latest updates.

To be honest, if I don't find an easy workaround I might not bother at all. I don't use Ubuntu anymore, I have little to no interest in the direction it is going, and I'm getting tired of wasting time and code to add fixes for Ubuntu-exclusive issues.
