Bug Description

Binary package hint: beryl

After installing an extension or theme in Firefox and then clicking the Restart button, Firefox fails to restart.
Running Firefox from the terminal and then installing a theme or extension produces this
The program 'firefox-bin' received an X Window System error.
This probably reflects a bug in the program.
The error was 'BadWindow (invalid Window parameter)'.
  (Details: serial 446 error_code 3 request_code 20 minor_code 0)
  (Note to programmers: normally, X errors are reported asynchronously;
that is, you will receive the error a while after causing it.
To debug your program, run it with the --sync command line
option to change this behavior. You can then get a meaningful
backtrace from your debugger if you break on the gdk_x_error() function.)

However, I am only able to reproduce this with Beryl running. Everything works fine with Beryl turned off.

Steps to reproduce:
1. Have Beryl running and start Firefox
2. Go to the Firefox Add Ons page and install any theme
3. Click Restart
4. Firefox will not restart and if run from the terminal will produce the error above.

Distro Release: Feisty Fawn 7.04

Beryl is replaced by Compiz Fusion, so has been removed from Gutsy.

I can replicate this issue running Tribe 5 (installed via alternate-amd64).

By default the "normal effects" is activated on the machine (macbook C2D, intel graphics chipset). When telling FF to reload after installing an extension it will not reload, but needs to be restarted manually.

When disabling the above effects and reloading FF everything functions as normal.
