cups can't seem to print pdf output to a custom file name only "output.pdf"

that's exactly it.. i click print to file, type a "customfilename.pdf", go to the desired directory folder location, and click ok.. but it doesn't output.. only when i click print to file and leave "output.pdf" does it print/output the file to a pdf.. why? what's wrong here? definite bug.. has only been happening since update to 12.10..
