Recordings in recordmydesktop disappear without trace

I have been trying to use recordmydesktop. While I have made some successful recordings, I have also made other recordings that have simply disappeared. By this I mean that I click on "save as" after the rendering is done and choose a file name and location, but no file is saved and no video file can be found in the working folder in /tmp.

What should happen: You should reliably be able to save recordings every time.

I've marked this as invalid. The files did show up in the end, just a long time after I clicked "save" and with no feedback to tell me that anything was going on. In other words there is a design issue, but the software is functional.

I've reopened this because today I have been trying to record and my recordings really have disappeared without trace.

"click on "save as"" means this must be about gtk-recordmydesktop
