Logout error on 13.10 upgrade

When selecting the logout menu from the taskbar and choosing SHUTDOWN or REBOOT, the window increases in size and displays the following message at the bottom of the window:

"GDBus.Error:org.freedesktop.DBus.Error.ServiceUnkown: The name org.freedesktop.systemd1 was not provided by any .service files"

The only method to shutdown or reboot is via the terminal.

***UPDATE***

I performed a clean install (reformatting HDD/partitions) and this has resolved any issues I have add with the log out menu.
