Could saucy.tar.gz have a bogus encoding? Error at end is:

"UnicodeDecodeError: 'utf8' codec can't decode byte 0x8b in position
1: invalid start byte "

Hopefully the 'ubuntu-bug' command included main.log.

This looks like bug 1212025 which should have been fixed.

The fix for bug 1212025 does exist in the saucy release upgrader so I'm not quite sure what is wrong here. Looking at you aptclone file I see the following:

I've attached the contents of /etc/aptl/sources.list.d/*.list at a .tgz file.

Note that if I mv /etc/apt/sources.list.d /etc/apt/sources.list.d-orig and create an empty directory /etc/apt/sources.list.d, the update still fails. I created bug 1243468 to capture that data too. Treid to mark it as a dup, no joy.
