Bug Description

I am using Ubuntu 13.04 and was using HPLIP 3.13.10. Both printers HP laser jet 1020 and P1005 worked fine without any trouble.

I upgraded to HPLIP 3.13.10 when prompted by the HPLIP software on 15.10.2013 - the upgrade went on smoothly until it prompted the dowloading of the installation of the plugin. The screen froze up on step 2 and remained stuck. Even after re-booting several time this problem remains and the printers do not work.

To work around this problem I have cancelled the prompt for installing the plugin. Then the printers do not work. The way around this is to download the firmware each time after rebooting. Then the printers work.

Is there a problem with the URL or link which installs the plug in? or any other problem?

Hi.

hp-plugin command tries to download the plugin binary from www.openprinting.org and this server is down so after some retries downloads from "http://hplipopensource.com/hplip-web/plugin/hplip-3.13.10-plugin.run". Please follow below steps.

 $ sudo hp-plugin -g

--> wait for some time to try 1st from www.openprinting.org (it fails) and later downloads from hplipopensource.com.

(or)

$ wget http://hplipopensource.com/hplip-web/plugin/hplip-3.13.10-plugin.run
--> downloads plugin to loacal system

$ sudo hp-plugin -g
--> select 2nd option to use local downloaded file.

Thanks & Regards,
Amarnath
