Bug Description

When running image 96 on mako, after some usage (and probably some special circumstances that I still do not quite understand) the OSK stops showing up. The maliit-server is still running, no crash is visible.

I noticed that an easy way to trigger the issue is running all the notes_app autopilot tests. Almost everytime I do it I end up with this bug - which in the end causes the failure of notes_app.tests.test_parts.TestFocus.test_parts_focus (which requires keyboard to pop up).

(causes: MismatchError: After 10.0 seconds test on KeyboardRectangle.state failed: u'shown' != dbus.String(u'hidden', variant_level=1) )

I would say it's a rather critical issue. To get the keyboard back running, a restart of maliit-server is needed. It seems to have started happening after the switch to Mir - on surfaceflinger all was ok.

First guess would be bug #1233988 being the cause.

As mentioned in the bug report, there is NO maliit-server crash, it's still running the same process as before just suddenly the keyboard doesn't want to pop up anymore. So I guess it cannot be caused by #1233988, as we would have to get a crash (and a crash file) for that.

I can confirm the issue, and moving it to critical as there's nothing you can do besides rebooting the device.

I can confirm that to be the same on Maguro also.. After a bit of use the OSK fails to display on messaging, terminal etc.. It happens more frequent in Terminal App but affects other apps too.

Also on the terminal the OSK still remains with swiping back to home screens. The delay makes the OS look clunky.
