Bug Description
Trying to install Kubuntu 13.04 64 bit from DVD. Worked OK on a 320G HDD a couple of times. Would not install on a 64G SSD. Failed with a message about grub not being able to install and a request to report via ubuntu-bug ubuquity (which did not work). Then the same DVD would not install on the HDD. Eventually got a good installation by removing all drives except the boot/install target drive from the machine. It seems as though the grub installer is getting confused about where it is supposed to be putting grub, but I'm not sure. And, of course, there is no useful trace of any kind. Oddly, the DVD sometimes booted into a grub loader and sometimes directly into the try/install selection screen. System seems to be working with the SSD (doing updates) and will try to reconnect the disconnected drives after the updates have been done. BTW, I tried fiddling with the install options: new partition table, starting from the end rather than the beginning, leaving the installed to make the decisions, etc... could not get anything to work.
Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make Kubuntu better. We are sorry that we do not always have the capacity to look at all reported bugs in a timely manner. There have been many changes in Kubuntu since that time you reported the bug and your problem may have been fixed with some of the updates. It would help us a lot if you could test it on a currently supported Kubuntu version. If you test it and it is still an issue, kindly upload the updated logs by running only once:
