Bug Description
Binary package hint: gdm
On a tribe 2 system, GDM now always seems to place the UserAuthDir to /tmp. I did not (yet) modify /etc/gdm/gdm.conf. For reference, it reads like this:
UserAuthDir=
# Fallback directory for writing authorization file if user's home directory
# is not writable.
UserAuthFBDir=/tmp
UserAuthFile=
When I log in, my XAUTHORITY Variable is set to:
>> echo $XAUTHORITY
/tmp/.gdmQS4MUT
This is a very annoying behavior if I ssh on that machine and want to use the local X11 display, because I then have to merge X11 credential forth and back.

turns out this the permissions on my home directory have been set to 775, which gdm doesn't like. this however is an extremly confusing error message.
