Bug Description

Existing triple boot system with Tribe 1 Ubuntu, Xubuntu, Kubuntu

Install manual partition failure on sda1, the Ubuntu:
-- tried to edit partition to / however the cursor turned to a whirly and never quit. Had to reboot.
-- tried to delete partition and new ext3 cursor turned to a whirly and never quit. Had to reboot.

Did sudo gparted, delete partition, and new. gparted failure message and said it saved details on root. I'll try to append on following message since there's no place to do an attachment here.

Terminal session seemed to note a lot of failures that scd0 was mounted read only. Didn't make any sense to me because it was supposed to be creating a partition on sda1.

Let me know if I can try anything.

Here's /var/log/syslog in case it shows something; I can't open a terminal since the Tribe 2 window manager won't do it.
