New View stops working after closing one view

Bug Description
If I open a new view then close the original view I can't open any more views.

Furthermore, If you close the first view by closing its tab (rather than through the "Remove Current View") option). The "Remove Current View" option remains active and you can then remove all the views leaving a blank window.
