Quick launcher does not give easy access to application icons

The app icons you get to choose from in launcher (and the 'start menu') are in /usr/share/app-install/icons. This doesn't seem to be documented anywhere - at least not somewhere that Googling finds quickly. And without knowing it you can't use the icons for most applications in quicklauncher, which points you to a tiny subset in /usr/share/pixmaps.

To make quick launcher more useful (particularly for newbies) I suggest it includes a link to the application icons folder. And if desktop files are pointing to icons in some other locations, perhaps these too.
