Bug Description

Having started to run short and medium tests on CX1, a number of tests using the shallow water code are crashing, some reliably, some sporadically. An example of a reliable crash would be shallow_water_mms_wave, detailed on:

 http://buildbot.ese.ic.ac.uk:8080/builders/shallow_water_mms_wave/builds/94/steps/shell_5/logs/stdio

where the relevant output is (I think!):

Jemma and Colin confirm this code is no longer needed and thus the tests can be removed - still being tested on gcc pending removal from the trunk.
