Thunar freezes when called either from applications menu, terminal or super+f keysrotke

Regardless the way Thunar is called, either from applications menu, terminal or super+f keystroke, Thunar opens and immediately freezes, leaving as only option to force closing it, when it displays a warning message stating the following:
"This window might be busy and is not responding. Do you want to terminate the application?"

It's probably related with https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/thunar/+bug/1231978 but can't say for sure.
