Bug Description

description:
Setting DPMS mode for output to 0 causes screen to blink/flicker once

steps:
1. run 'dbus-send --type=method_call --dest=org.gnome.ScreenSaver /org/gnome/ScreenSaver org.gnome.ScreenSaver.SimulateUserActivity'

expected results:
screen does not blink in regular x

actual results:
screen blinks on xmir

the same thing happens when running unity-3d games (the graphics engine not the DM)

steps:
1. install critter cascade from the ubuntu software center
2. open critter cascade

expected results:
the screen doesn't flicker black

actual results:
the screen flickers black

I believe much of XMir's flickering is due to bug 1221614.

I can't reproduce any flickering when changing DPMS modes in the new Xmir. But it is a whole new code base :)
