openoffice.org-gnome crashes when saving

Bug Description

When I'm having openoffice.org-gnome installed, oo.o freezes when wanting to
save something. When I deinstall this package everything works as expected. This
bug seems to be true for the 1.x as well as for the 2.x branch of oo.o.

I confirm for both versions: any operation involving a dialog window leads to a
crash. Then you're unable to close OOo unless using xkill or kill. I had to
remove this package at the price of losing ubuntu-desktop.

i assume this is the same bug i'm having..

openoffice2..

anytime when you invoke a gtk-based open/save dialog, it crashes..

there are 2 ways how to "workaround" this:

1. launch it without the gtk "skin".... on a console, do:
export SAL_USE_VCLPLUGIN=gen
and launch openoffice(2) afterwards..

2. the problem seems to be with gnome-vfs...
you can tell gtk, to use the "gtk+" backend, and not the "gnome-vfs" backend..
with this, you won't be able to open/save files from/to "exotic" locations,
like http, webdav or samba. launch gconf-editor, and change the
desktop/gnome/interfaces/file_chooser_backend from "gnome-vfs" to "gtk+"

This is probably the same as Bug 11489. Please can you start OOo from the
command line and reproduce the bug. Do you see output like this?

libgnomevfs-ERROR **: file gnome-vfs-cancellation.c: line 133
(gnome_vfs_cancellation_cancel): assertion failed: (gnome_vfs_is_primary_thread())
aborting...

when I try OOo from the command line, then try to open a document from the
pull-down menu, I get this:

libgnomevfs-ERROR **: file gnome-vfs-cancellation.c: line 133

Thanks, this is the same problem as bug#11489.

as a workaround try firing up gconf-editor and set the key
/desktop/gnome/interface/file_chooser_backend to gtk+
