Bug Description

This seems to be a recent regression after the update to chromium 29. I can't have thunderbird open links with chromium..

thunderbird=17.0.8+build1-0ubuntu1
chromium-browser=29.0.1547.65-0ubuntu3 (I think that's chad test build still)

In System > Default Apps, chromium is set as the default browser and appears as "New tab" with the chromium logo, if that has any importance.

Incidentally, while trying to file the bug, ubuntu-bug could just open a window but not have it open on the launchpad bug link.

I'm able to open links from Thunderbird 24 (there was a recent update) correctly into Chromium 30. Just out of curiosity, can you run "update-alternatives --get-selections | chromium-browser" in a Terminal window? It should return gnome-www-browser and x-www-browser, and the paths should be the same.

Er, add "grep" after the "|" in Saikrishna's comment.

"update-alternatives --get-selections | grep chromium-browser"

In my python script with webbrowser.open(url) the URL won't open. From the command-line it works:

chromium-browser http://launchpad.net

opens the webpage. gnome-www-browser and x-www-browser points to the correct executable. So it's probably a bug in python.

I have the solution to this problem:

Change the Exec-line in the file .local/share/applications/chromium-browser.desktop to

Exec=chromium-browser %u

(Add the %u)

After that every thing is working as it should.
