Bug Description
Hi,
I'm running Mint 15 Cinnamon x64 on a Satellite P70 with Nvidia Optimus; GT740M/Intel HD 4600 with Bumblebee installed and noticed that the FN Brightness keys are not working. Before I had Bumblebee installed and Mint running off of nouveau by default I was still not able to change the brightness with the keys.
To install Mint at the grub menu I need to add; acpi_backlight=
I also noticed in /etc/default/grub it has the line like this;
GRUB_CMDLINE_
I do have the correct /sys/class/
/sys/class/
actual_brightness bl_power brightness device max_brightness power subsystem type uevent
!!!-------> Adding the Brightness Applet to the panel does work!
These are the steps I've tested without success.
1. acpi_listen - does not show anything when pressing the keys
2. I did not try xbacklight since it's not installed by default in Mint
3. sudo echo 5 > /sys/class/
cat to the max_brightness shows below;
cat /sys/class/
5273
I have not tested adding acpi_osi to the line below, I just read about this as I was posting this bug report, so I"ll report back if this works.
GRUB_CMDLINE_
I hope the Mint Team will get this working soon for this laptop model, because I'm assuming when the FN keys working you get a nice OSD being shown?
I'm attaching the output of lspci -vv as lspci.txt
Thanks...
