Can't add new PPAs because of JSON error

Bug Description

I keep getting his error when trying to add some repositories: Cannot add PPA: 'No JSON object could be decoded'.

I'm using Linux Mint 15 "olivia" Cinnamon 64-bit.

This appears to be fixed in Linux Mint 16.

Not from where I'm sitting.

Tried (CLI): sudo add-apt-repository ppa:mozillateam/firefox-stable
Got: Cannot add PPA: 'No JSON object could be decoded'.

This is a bit of a showstopper, really.

Two weeks ago I installed Linux Mint 17 64bit Cinnamon Edition. I am unable to install any ppas' via 'Software Sources'. I keep getting 'No JSON object could be decoded' error. I tried these ppas'

I was able to install xbmc via th cli with this information from the xbmc website
sudo apt-get install python-software-properties pkg-config
sudo apt-get install software-properties-common
sudo add-apt-repository ppa:team-xbmc/ppa
sudo apt-get update
sudo apt-get install xbmc
