Bug Description

Binary package hint: casper

I first experienced this bug on Kubuntu 20070626.1. When booting the liveCD the boot hung at 'Loading hardware drivers' I didn't wait long enough for a timeout (sorry) but there were no further messages that I saw. The CD booted fine at the second attempt on the same machine and booted first time on a different machine so I thought it was a fluke.

I then experienced this again this morning with Kubuntu 20070626.2 liveCD but launchpad was down so I couldn't report it. On this occasion I saw some further messages about 'ipw3945 could not read microcode'

I have since been unable to reproduce the bug so I can't get the full text of the error messages. This suggests that the problem is related to the ipw3945 wireless card in this machine. The liveCD gives no problems on a different machine which has no wireless card. This is a Lenovo N100 laptop.

If I can reproduce the bug I'll attach syslog but it appears to me intermittent which is a nuisance

Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make Ubuntu better. Is this still an issue with the latest version of Gutsy Gibbon, currently Tribe 4? Thanks in advance.
