Bug Description

Empty folders are displayed with a text stating this fact. This is good.

But folders with a massive amount of files can take forever to load and while doing so only display an empty screen, possibly tricking the unaware user into thinking the folder is indeed empty. Combined with the fact that folder size is never displayed anywhere outside of Properties, inocuous cleaning can lead to consequent data loss.

There should be an indication that the folder is being processed, with some text or a nice animation.

Maybe show a spinner on the respective tab while loading the directory?

For me, it updates the view as the large folder is loading, which is incredibly annoying as I'm trying to click a file or folder as it hops around the screen, usually resulting in my clicking the wrong thing.

+1 for showing a loading screen and/or spinner until the folder is fully loaded.

The linked branch displays a "Loading ..." message and spinner on the tab during loading. Items are not displayed until loading is complete.
