Bug Description

Since updating to KDE 4.11.1 from the Kubuntu Backports PPA I can't view or download photos from my Nexus 4 using the MTP protocol (USB mode "Connected as a camera" on the phone).

1. Connect phone via USB cable to computer
2. KDE Device Notifier pops-up saying a 'Camera' has been connected, asks whether to open in Gwenview, Digikam or Dolphin
3. Select 'Download photos with Digikam'

Expected result:
Digikam opens with device manager window showing all photos stored on the phone allowing me to select them and download. This is the behaviour pre-KDE 4.11.1

Actual result:
Digikam opens with device manager window showing blank, as though there are no photos on the phone

Oops, the above bug description should say 'PTP' protocol instead of 'MTP'

I have this too.

In MTP mode, KDE can see the "external" storage on the phone. But in PTP mode it's just an empty directory. The URI in Dolphin is camera:// , and shows nothing.
It's the same whether you connect the phone as a camera, or as a media device - in the latter case you get two different sub-devices (although you can't distinguish them in the device notifier, there's two entries both saying "open with file manager"). The entry which is the camera shows no files.

This has been the same with the phone running both AOS 4.3 & 4.4.

You can work round by navigating the MTP device to the DCIM folder, but camera-specific functions in apps like Gwenview don't work.

Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make Kubuntu better. We are sorry that we do not always have the capacity to look at all reported bugs in a timely manner. There have been many changes in Kubuntu since that time you reported the bug and your problem may have been fixed with some of the updates. It would help us a lot if you could test it on a currently supported Kubuntu version. If you test it and it is still an issue, kindly upload the updated logs by running only once:
