Bug Description
On a Lanai (Inspiron 1420) system with the NVIDIA 8400M GS card (and using the vesa driver), when an external monitor is connected to it, pressing Fn+F8 does not display anything on the external monitor (when doing so, the screen on the Lanai goes blank, as expected). Pressing Fn+F8 a second time displays the screen back on the laptop's LCD.
I tried several monitors and also ran 'dpkg-reconfigure xserver-xorg' to make sure the right horizontal/vertical frequencies were supported. I only tried resolutions smaller than 1024x768.

On a laptop with the NVIDIA 8400M GS card using the vesa driver, when an external monitor is connected to it, pressing Fn+F8 does not display anything on the external monitor. The laptop's screen goes blank as expected, and pressing Fn+F8 displays the screen back on the laptop's LCD.
Several different monitors were tried, and correct horiz/vert frequencies were specified in each case.
