Would it be possible for you to test the latest upstream stable kernel? Refer to https://wiki.ubuntu.com/KernelMainlineBuilds . Please test the latest v3.8 stable kernel[0].

If this bug is fixed in the mainline kernel, please add the following tag 'kernel-fixed-upstream'.

If the mainline kernel does not fix this bug, please add the tag: 'kernel-bug-exists-upstream'.

If you are unable to test the mainline kernel, for example it will not boot, please add the tag: 'kernel-unable-to-test-upstream'.
Once testing of the upstream kernel is complete, please mark this bug as "Confirmed".

Thanks in advance.

I was having the same problem with my AR9227 wireless adapter after updating to 3.8.0-30. Kernel 3.8.13-03081307-GENERIC fixes the issue. Will not add fixed tag so OP can verify as well.

I spoke too soon - had to go back to 3.8.0-29 to get it to work again, but now the ath9k module doesn't always load on startup and inserting it does not fix the issue. After rebooting a couple of times to .29 OR 3.18.13-03081307 it works again...
