Bug Description

Odd bug involving suspend on a Dell Latitude X1:

If I hit the suspend button, the laptop goes into suspend as it should. Usually at this point I close the lid, and when I open the lid it comes out of suspend, I type in my password, and everything's good to go.

However, if I don't close the lid on the laptop, and then wake it from suspend by pressing the power button, when it comes out of suspend the mouse doesn't work and typing on the keyboard doesn't put anything in the password field. However, I can still use the keyboard to go back into suspend, and then I can bring it out of standby by closing and opening the lid, and then everything works again.

Hi, thanks for your bug report. Can you confirm if this is a duplicate of bug #107725?

Looks like it is a duplicate, same basic problem for the keyboard at least. Also, today it happened when I woke the computer up by raising the lid, and didn't happen when I woke it using the power button. So, that's strange.

Maybe this is related: very rarely after coming out of standby, typing in my password, and the desktop showing up, one of the notification pop-up things (typically the "You are now connected to the <name> wireless network message) will appear and seem to get focus, with no way to get it back. When that happens, the mouse still moves around, but clicking doesn't do anything, and keyboard input doesn't really work either. The way I found to fix it is to go to a workspace with an open window and alt-tab a couple times, after which everything's normal again.
Could that maybe be related to this bug (and bug 107725) ?

Thanks for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make Ubuntu better. I think you should first try to fix your keyboard issue, then if the notification issue continues, file a new bug.

This particular bug has already been reported and is probably a duplicate of bug #107725 and is being marked as such. Please look at the other bug report and provide any information you think is helpful. Thanks.
