After selecting a different keyboard layout (DE) the indicator still shows "En". The keyboard layout is applied though.

Deselecting and selecting again the option "Show current input source in the menu bar" under "Text Entry Settings", corrects this problem and the icon represents the layout (as described in Bug #1231875)
