Bug Description

XMir freezes if any other Mir clients are running in unity-system-compositor while multiple monitors are connected.

This is quite strange, because I can run multiple mir_demo_client_* apps simultaneously in unity-system-compositor. However while any of them are running, XMir appears frozen.

The bug does not happen if XMir only has a single monitor connected. In that case X keeps running behind the native Mir clients.

summary: - XMir freezes if any other Mir clients are running in unity-system-
- compositor
+ XMir freezes if using more than one monitor and any other Mir clients
+ are running in unity-system-compositor

Also, this bug only seems to occur with Compiz/Unity. Not with Gnome Shell or Xfce... those keep rendering to XMir under native Mir clients without issue.

XMir 1.0 (the old Xorg extension) is now deprecated and is not being maintained or fixed. It is replaced by the new 'Xmir' binary (package 'xmir') introduced in Ubuntu 15.10 wily.

Changed in xorg-server (Ubuntu):
status: Triaged → Won't Fix
